Tomorrow is grandparents day! Please have students wear their khakis and Zion polo. It's also the last day of the book fair and the Books for Bibles event (Finals: Allies vs. the Iliad!) School will dismiss following the program (sometime between 2:30-2:45).
The Books for Bibles Bracket has been very close so far and we are down to the Final Four! Tomorrow's contest is between Gratz' "Allies" and K.Alexander's "Crossover" and between Higgin's "The Legend of Soggy Hollow" and Homer's "The Iliad". Send some spare change with your child to vote - its a great cause!

Last week, the third grade classroom received eggs to, hopefully, hatch. Today, we candled a couple eggs to see where the light shone through and where growing chicks blocked the light. Every day three pairs of students from 3rd and 4th grades act as the mother hen's feet to rotate the eggs. The incubator provides warmth and humidity. It will be an exciting time in mid-March when some of these eggs hatch!

The Zion boys' basketball team traveled to West Point for the Lutheran Roundball Tournament. The boys played hard and came home with a special trophy - the tournament Sportsmanship Award. This award is awarded to the coach and team that best exemplified Christ-like behavior in a competitive setting. This award is made by the tournament refs who witnessed first-hand how the team handed the challenges of winning and losing with character and grace.
Well done Coach DeLoach and team! We're proud of you!

Zion's late start has been upgraded to a closing as more than expected snow blew in and the beginning of extreme cold. Stay home and stay warm!
Due to blowing snow and extreme cold, Zion will have a 2 hour late start. Morning preschool and pre-k are cancelled. Hot lunch will still be available.
Due to another wave of inclement weather, Zion's Thursday (1/11) game against Emmanuel-Faith York has been postponed.
Update: tomorrow's boys basketball game in Grand Island will be postponed. Please plan accordingly.

Mrs. Halva's Pre-K class delivered the baby items for "Baby Jesus" to the Collage Center before Christmas break. Thank you to all the ECE classes for your donations! Your participation in our service project is greatly appreciated.

•We will start pre-service music between 3:40-3:45 p.m. If your child is doing this, please have them report to Mrs. Bauer’s room by 3:25 p.m.
• All other students should report to their classrooms by 3:40 p.m.
•Sunday seating will be at a premium, so arrive early! Encourage friends and extended family to attend the Friday event at 1:00 p.m. Preservice music to start at 12:40.
•Student attire for the Friday afternoon service should be khakis and Zion polo; attire for Sunday should be their Sunday best.
