2019-2020 will be a year of change at Zion. This year we will welcome three new teachers, three new aides, an afterschool program assistant, and a custodian.
If you haven't been following, Miss Amy Woodman, our kindergarten teacher has accepted a call to be the new Director of Early Childhood Ministries at Peace Lutheran in Grand Island. She will do an amazing job and we wish God's continued blessings on her. We have called Miss Jamie Nikodym to be our new kindergarten teacher. Miss Nikodym is a graduate of Concordia University and brings with her a wealth of leadership experience.
Miss Debra Erickson, our former first grade teacher, has moved to Omaha to complete her master's work in library science. We welcome Miss Kara Dauel to Zion as our new first grade teacher. Miss Dauel is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK). We are also excited to welcome her as our new basketball coach!
We also regret that we must say goodbye to Mrs. Grace Watson, who has been an outstanding master teacher of prekindergarten as well as our Title I Reading support teacher. For family reasons, Mrs. Watson has had to resign so she can attend to those. Happily though, we will now bring in Mrs. Liz Gaunt, who has served as an aide in Mrs. DeLoach's pre-k class for the past two years in addition to being our school librarian. She knows our program well and will be a natural fit for us.
In the aiding department, we will welcome Mrs. Marge Hansen (pre-K), Mrs. Sue Kaiser (pre-k), and Miss Heather Schnoor (kindergarten).
We are still looking for a school custodian/janitor as well as someone to assist with the afterschool program. If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact the school office.
Though change isn't always easy and we will miss our friends who have moved on, we are excited about the growth opportunities that change can bring. We also thank God for His continued blessings on Zion as we work to provide the best in Christian education.
