ZION LUTHERAN SCHOOL

At Zion Lutheran School we offer a number of early childhood education opportunities for families interested in excellent, Christ-centered education.

Schedule: This class meets every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:15 am to 11:15 am.

Class size: Each 3 yr. old section is capped at a maximum of 16 students.

Student/teacher ratio: 8:1 Each preschool class has a teacher and an aide.

Sections: Zion is currently offering two sections of preschool. Last year we filled these sections very quickly, so do not delay if you want a spot. If the classes reach their maximum, we will start a waiting list.

Cost: $1,514.15 per year ($151.42 per month for 10 months)

Teachers: Mrs. Deborah Anderson will teach this preschool class. Mrs. Anderson will have an aide at all times. (See faculty page for more information about our faculty.)

Special notes: To be eligible for this class, students must be 3 years old by July 31, and toilet-trained. For our early childhood classes we are somewhat flexible on birthdates. It must be understood, however, that the state of Nebraska has just passed into law the requirement that all children must be of age by July 31. If your child comes of age to enter kindergarten between the dates of Aug. 1st and Oct. 15th, you, the parents, can request that this requirement be waived. The requirement can and will be waived if you meet one of three criteria set forth by the state. For more information on this, please see the principal.

Schedule: This class meets every day, Monday thru Friday, mornings from 8:15 am to 11:15 am. Morning students do have the option of staying for lunch; for these students, dismissal is at 11:45am.

Sections: Zion currently offers two sections of all-week prekindergarten: one morning only session and one full-day session.

Cost: $2,714.60 per year ($271.46 per month for 10 months)

Teachers: Mrs. Sarah Filbert will teach this prekindergarten class. Mrs. Filbert will have an aide at all times. (See faculty page for more information about our faculty.)

Special notes: All prekindergarten students must be at least four years old by July 31 in order to enter kindergarten for the following school year (2024-2023). We are somewhat flexible with birthdates in our early childhood programs. The morning only section is encouraged for younger pre-k students and the full-day class is recommended for older 4's and 5s.

Five year olds are admitted as well, since kindergarten readiness varies from child to child. There is no shame in this – research shows that it is far better for a child to wait a year than to start before they are ready!

Cost: $542.92 per year ($542.92 per month for 10 months)

Teachers: Mrs. Nancy Halva will teach the full-day section.

Schedule: This class meets every day from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm.

Class size: We are projecting that our kindergarten will fill to a full class of 20 students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Student/teacher ratio: 10:1 (there is a part-time aide for this class )

Cost: $5279.20 per year ($527.92 per month for 10 months) Tuition assistance, scholarships, and other discounts are available for kindergarteners. To learn more about these, please visit the enrollment page or speak to the school secretary or the head teacher.

Teacher: Miss Jamie Nikodym. Miss Nikodym will have an aide during the morning sessions.

Special notes: State law requires that all kindergarteners provide a copy of a valid birth certificate and documentation of immunization. If you need helping obtaining these forms, we would be happy to help. Students must be 5 yrs. old by July 31.
